Suffering brings promotion.

“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things

Which he suffered;

9And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal

Salvation; unto all them that obey him.”

Hebrews 5:8-9

I cringe when I read this verse, do you? Who likes to suffer?

Suffer in the Greek language is the word pascho; meaning a sensible

experience - to undergo. In other words, pain to endure and then

the transition to the other side called – relief. “Pain now ended.”

God always has a reason for the pain, we go through. Pain causes

growth. Growth is maturity. This verse tells us that Christ became

the Captain of our Salvation, after he suffered. God made Christ

earn this title. Christ was always God’s Son. But to become Savior,

to become the Captain of Eternal Salvation – he had to win, he had

to conquer, he had to go through, he had to suffer. Christ earned

his title - Savior.

What is God making you earn? Are you suffering as you study night

and day, on your midterms in college? Or are you suffering as a

businessman, due to the fact of God stretching you to enlarge

your borders, and take a leap – into greater faith?

Maybe you are a Minister, and God is taking you to the next level,

where you wonder what in the world is going on. Hang tight and

do right – it is just a test. A test of your faith, a test of your

purity, and a test of your devotion. Will you hold onto God and the

commanded life, through it all? Say “Yes,” and go onto the next

You might say as I have, “Who wants the next level?” “Forget

this.” But God wants us to go onto the next level, for the

salvation of the nation’s await us – passing our tests, suffering

for a season, and earning our title’s; as Christ did.

Don’t give up and don’t give in, and I will see you rise to the top.

Enjoy Your Journey
