ACTS 28:23

“And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him

into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom

of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of

Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.”

ROMANS 3:21-23

“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested,

being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ

unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

3.    The Prophet tells the future.

MATTHEW 2:23

“He came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be

fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a

Nazarene.”

LUKE 24:25-27

“Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all

that the prophets have spoken:

26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter

into his glory?

27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto

them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.”

LUKE 24:44

“And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto

you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled,

which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and

in the psalms, concerning me.”

JOHN 1:45

“Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him,

of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of

Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the

Father, cometh unto me.”

ACTS 3:18-26

“But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of

all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be

blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the

presence of the Lord.

20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto

you:

21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of

all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy

prophets since the world began.

22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord

your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him

shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear

that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow

after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these

days.

25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which

God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed

shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to

bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.”

ACTS 10:38-43

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and

with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that

were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the

land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged

on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God,

even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the

dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify

that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick

and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name

whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”

ACTS 15:13-15

“And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying,

Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles,

to take out of them a people for his name.

15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written.”

ACTS 24:14-15

“But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call

heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things

which are written in the law and in the prophets:

15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow,

that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and

unjust.”

ACTS 26:22-23

“Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day,

witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than

those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that

should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people,

and to the Gentiles.”

ACTS 28:23

“And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him

into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom

of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of

Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.”

1 PETER 1:9-11

“Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched

diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which

was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings

of Christ, and the glory that should follow.”

2 PETER 3:2

“That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before

by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles

of the Lord and Saviour.”

REVELATION 11:3-14

“And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall

prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in

sackcloth.

4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing

before the God of the earth.

5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth,

and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must

in this manner be killed.

6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of

their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood,

and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that

ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them,

and shall overcome them, and kill them.

8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which

spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall

see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer

their dead bodies to be put in graves.

10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and

make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two

prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

11 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered

into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon

them which saw them.

12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them,

Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and

their enemies beheld them.

13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth

part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven

thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the

God of heaven.

14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh

quickly.”

REVELATION 22:1-21

“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal,

proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river,

was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and

yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for

the healing of the nations.

3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of

the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their

foreheads.

5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle,

neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and

they shall reign for ever and ever.

6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and

the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his

servants the things which must shortly be done.

7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of

the prophecy of this book.

8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had

heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel

which shewed me these things.

9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow

servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep

the sayings of this book: worship God.

10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of

this book: for the time is at hand.

11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy,

let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous

still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give

every man according as his work shall be.

13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and

the last.

14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may

have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates

into the city.

15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and

murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in

the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the

bright and morning star.

17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth

say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let

him take the water of life freely.

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the

prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God

shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of

this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life,

and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in

this book.

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly.

Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.”

4.    The Prophet does not speak his own words, but the words that

he|she have divinely received from God. The Prophet is to be

respected, or consequence will occur for the mocker.

DEUTERONOMY 18:8

“I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto

thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto

them all that I shall command him.

19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto

my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.”

LUKE 11:49-50

“Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets

and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:

50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the

foundation of the world, may be required of this generation.”

ACTS 13:38-41

“Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through

this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from

which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of

in the prophets;

41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work

in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a

man declare it unto you.”

ROMANS 16:25-27

“Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my

gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the

revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world

began,

26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets,

according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known

to all nations for the obedience of faith:

27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.”

REVELATION 16:5-6

“And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O

Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged

thus.

6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou

hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.”

REVELATION 18:1-24

“And after these things I saw another angel come down from

heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his

glory.

2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the

great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils,

and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and

hateful bird.

3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her

fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication

with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through

the abundance of her delicacies.

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her,

my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye

receive not of her plagues.

5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath

remembered her iniquities.

6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her

double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill

to her double.

7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so

much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit

a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and

mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for

strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and

lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when

they shall see the smoke of her burning,

10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas

that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour is thy

judgment come.

11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her;

for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and

of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all

thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner

vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense,

and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and

sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee,

and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee,

and thou shalt find them no more at all.

15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her,

shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

16 And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine

linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious

stones, and pearls!

17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every

shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many

as trade by sea, stood afar off,

18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying,

What city is like unto this great city!

19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and

wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich

all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! For in one

hour is she made desolate.

20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and

prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and

cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city

Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and

trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no

craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in

thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in

thee;

23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and

the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more

at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth;

for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and

of all that were slain upon the earth.”

5.    The Prophet declares the will of God.

LUKE 1:70

As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been

since the world began.”

HEBREWS 1:1

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time

past unto the fathers by the prophets.”

6.    The Lord makes himself known to the Prophet in visions and

dreams.

NUMBERS 12:6

“And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among

you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and

will speak unto him in a dream.”

7.    The Lord sends the Prophet.

MATTHEW 23:34

“Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and

scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of

them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them

from city to city.”

LUKE 13:34

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest

them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered

thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her

wings, and ye would not!”

8.    The Lord places Prophets in the Church.

ACTS 13:1-3

“Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain

prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called

Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought

up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said,

Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have

called them.

3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on

them, they sent them away.”

1 CORINTHIANS 12:28

“And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily

prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of

healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.”

1 CORINTHIANS 14:29-33

“Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.

30 If anything be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first

hold his peace.

31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all

may be comforted.

32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all

churches of the saints.”

EPHESIANS 2:19-22

“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but

fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,

Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an

holy temple in the Lord:

22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God

through the Spirit.”

EPHESIANS 3:1-11

“For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,

2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which

is given me to you-ward:

3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery;

(as I wrote afore in few words,

4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in

the mystery of Christ)

5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men,

as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the

Spirit;

6 That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body,

and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the

grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace

given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable

riches of Christ;

9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery,

which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who

created all things by Jesus Christ:

10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in

heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold

wisdom of God,

11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ

Jesus our Lord.”

EPHESIANS 4:11-16

“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some,

evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry,

for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge

of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the

stature of the fullness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and

carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men,

and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things,

which is the head, even Christ:

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted

by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual

working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body

unto the edifying of itself in love.”

9.    Prophets warn, encourage, comfort and strengthen.

ACTS 15:32

“And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted

the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.”

10. The Lord confirms the word of the Prophet.

DEUTERONOMY 18:22

follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath

not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou

shalt not be afraid of him.”

MATTHEW 5:17

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets:

I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.”

MATTHEW 7:12

“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to

you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”

MATTHEW 26:55-56

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall

shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,

they shall deceive the very elect.”

MARK 1:2

“As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger

before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.”

LUKE 18:31

“Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold,

we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the

prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.”

11. The Prophets Law.

MATTHEW 22:37-40

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy

heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as

thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

12. The Prophets message is often ignored.

LUKE 16:31

“If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be

persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”

ACTS 13:26-30

“Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and

whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this

salvation sent.

27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they

knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read

every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired

they Pilate that he should be slain.

29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they

took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.

30 But God raised him from the dead.”

13. Prophets are persecuted.

MATTHEW 5:12

“Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in

heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before

you.”

LUKE 6:22-23

“Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall

separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and

cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your

reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers

unto the prophets.”

LUKE 11:47

“Woe unto you! For ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and

your fathers killed them.”

ACTS 7:52-53

“Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And

they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the

Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and

have not kept it.”

JAMES 5:10

“Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name

of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.”

14. Prophets have been and will be - killed.

MATTHEW 23:29-39

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye

build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of

the righteous,

30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would

not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the

children of them which killed the prophets.

32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the

damnation of hell?

34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men,

and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some

of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them

from city to city:

35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the

earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias

son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this

generation.

37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and

stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have

gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her

chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall

say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.”

LUKE 13:34

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest

them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered

thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her

wings, and ye would not!”

ACTS 7:52-53

“Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And

they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the

Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and

have not kept it.”

Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars;

and I am left alone, and they seek my life.”

1 THESSALONIANS 2:14-15

“For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which

in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things

of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and

have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary

to all men.”

15. Prophets are honorable people.

HEBREWS 11:32-40

And what shall I more say? For the time would fail me to tell of

Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David

also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness,

obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.

34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword,

out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned

to flight the armies of the aliens.

35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were

tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better

resurrection:

36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea,

moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted,

were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins

and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts,

and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith,

received not the promise:

40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without

us should not be made perfect.”

16. The Lord greatly rewards his Prophet in Heaven.

LUKE 13:28

“There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see

Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the

kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.”

REVELATION 11:15-19

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in

heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the

kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign forever

and ever.

16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their

seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,

17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art,

and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy

great power, and hast reigned.

18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the

time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou

shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the

saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and

shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was

seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were

lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and

great hail.”

17.  The Bible warns; of false prophets.

MATTHEW 7:15

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing,

but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

MATTHEW 24:11

“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”

MATTHEW 24:24

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall

shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,

they shall deceive the very elect.”

MARK 13:22

“For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs

and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.”

LUKE 6:26

“Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! For so did

their fathers to the false prophets.”

2 PETER 2:1

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as

there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in

damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and

bring upon themselves swift destruction.”

1 JOHN 4:1

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they

are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the

world.”

REVELATION 10:7

“But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall

begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath

declared to his servants the prophets.”

Warnings And Insight; Concerning

God’s Prophet’s.

1 CHRONICLES 16:22

“Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.”

PSALM 105:15

“Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.”

2 CHRONICLES 36:15-16

“And the Lord God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers,

rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his

people, and on his dwelling place:

16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words,

and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against

his people, till there was no remedy.”

NEHEMIAH 9:29-30

“And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again

unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy

commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man

do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened

their neck, and would not hear.

30 Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against

them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear:

therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the

lands.”

JEREMIAH 29:17-19

“Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the

sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile

figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.

18 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and

with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the

kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and

an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have

driven them:

19 Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the Lord,

which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early

and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the Lord.”

JEREMIAH 35:15-17

“I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up

early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from

his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods

to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given

to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear,

nor hearkened unto me.

16 Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed

the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but

this people hath not hearkened unto me:

17 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel;

Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of

Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them:

because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and

I have called unto them, but they have not answered.”

JEREMIAH 44:1-30

“The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which

dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at

Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

2 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen

all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the

cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and

no man dwelleth therein,

3 Because of their wickedness which they have committed to

provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to

serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your

fathers.

4 Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early

and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I

hate.

5 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their

wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.

6 Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was

kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and

they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.

7 Therefore now thus saith the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of

Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to

cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah,

to leave you none to remain;

8 In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands,

burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye

be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye

might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the

earth?

9 Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the

wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their

wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your

wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in

the streets of Jerusalem?

10 They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they

feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before

you and before your fathers.

11 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel;

Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all

Judah.

12 And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces

to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be

consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be

consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the

least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and

they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and

a reproach.

13 For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have

punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the

pestilence:

14 So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the

land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they

should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a

desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as

shall escape.

15 Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned

incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great

multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in

Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of

the Lord, we will not hearken unto thee.

17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our

own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour

out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers,

our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets

of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and

saw no evil.

18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and

to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and

have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured

out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her,

and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the

women, and to all the people which had given him that answer,

saying,

21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the

streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your

princes, and the people of the land, did not the Lord remember

them, and came it not into his mind?

22 So that the Lord could no longer bear, because of the evil of

your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have

committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an

astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned

against the Lord, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord, nor

walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies;

therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.

24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women,

Hear the word of the Lord, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:

25 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and

your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with

your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have

vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out

drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and

surely perform your vows.

26 Therefore hear ye the word of the Lord, all Judah that dwell in

the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith

the Lord, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of

any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord God

liveth.

27 Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all

the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed

by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.

28 Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the

land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah,

that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know

whose words shall stand, mine, or their's.

29 And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the Lord, that I will

punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely

stand against you for evil:

30 Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will give Pharaohhophra king of

Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that

seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of

Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.”

JEREMIAH 38:14-23

“Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith

the Lord God; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely,

shalt thou not know it?

15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts,

thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses,

a great company, and a mighty army:

16 And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud

to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee

against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be

sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

17 Thus saith the Lord God; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in

old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in

those days many years that I would bring thee against them?

18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come

against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, that my fury shall

come up in my face.

19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken,

Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of

Israel;

20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and

the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the

earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall

shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down,

and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the

ground.

21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my

mountains, saith the Lord God: every man's sword shall be against

his brother.

22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and

I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people

that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire,

and brimstone.

23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be

known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am

the Lord.”

DANIEL 9:1-19

“In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of

the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;

2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the

number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to

Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in

the desolations of Jerusalem.

3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and

supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

4 And I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession,

and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the

covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that

keep his commandments;

We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done

wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts

and from thy judgments:

Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets,

which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers,

and to all the people of the land.

7 Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us

confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to

the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near,

and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast

driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed

against thee.

8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our

princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though

we have rebelled against him;

10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk

in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing,

that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured

upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the

servant of God, because we have sinned against him.

12 And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us,

and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a

great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath

been done upon Jerusalem.

13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us:

yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might

turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.

14 Therefore hath the Lord watched upon the evil, and brought it

upon us: for the Lord our God is righteous in all his works which he

doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.

15 And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth

out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee

renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

16 Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let

thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem,

thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of

our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to

all that are about us.

17 Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and

his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary

that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.

18 O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and

behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name:

for we do not present our supplications before thee for our

righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.

19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not,

for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called

by thy name.”

HOSEA 6:1-7

“Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he

will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us

up, and we shall live in his sight.

3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going

forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the

rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

4 O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do

unto thee? For your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the

early dew it goeth away.

5 Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them

by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that

goeth forth.

6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God

more than burnt offerings.

7 But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have

they dealt treacherously against me.”

HOSEA 12:10

“I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions,

and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.”

AMOS 2:11-16

“And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men

for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? Saith

the Lord.

12 But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the

prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

13 Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full

of sheaves.

14 Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong

shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver

himself:

15 Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is

swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth

the horse deliver himself.

16 And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away

naked in that day, saith the Lord.”

AMOS 3:3-15

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? Will a young

lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?

5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him?

Shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing

at all?

6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid?

Shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?

7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret

unto his servants the prophets.

8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord God hath spoken,

who can but prophesy?

9 Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land

of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of

Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and t

he oppressed in the midst thereof.

10 For they know not to do right, saith the Lord, who store up

violence and robbery in their palaces.

11 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; An adversary there shall be

even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength

from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

12 Thus saith the Lord; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth

of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of

Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed,

and in Damascus in a couch.

13 Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord God,

the God of hosts,

14 That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel

upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the

shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and

the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have

an end, saith the Lord.”

ZECHARIAH 1:1-17

“In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word

of the Lord unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo

the prophet, saying,

2 The Lord hath been sore displeased with your fathers.

3 Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn

ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith

the Lord of hosts.

4 Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have

cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your

evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor

hearken unto me, Saith the Lord.

5 Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live

forever?

6 But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants

the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? And they

returned and said, Like as the Lord of hosts thought to do unto us,

according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he

dealt with us.

7 Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which

is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word

of the Lord unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo

the prophet, saying,

8 I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he

stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind

him were there red horses, speckled, and white.

9 Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked

with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.

10 And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and

said, These are they whom the Lord hath sent to walk to and fro

through the earth.

11 And they answered the angel of the Lord that stood among the

myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the

earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.

12 Then the angel of the Lord answered and said, O Lord of hosts,

how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities

of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore

and ten years?

13 And the Lord answered the angel that talked with me with good

words and comfortable words.

14 So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou,

saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem

and for Zion with a great jealousy.

15 And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at

ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the

affliction.

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord; I am returned to Jerusalem with

mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the Lord of hosts, and

a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

17 Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; My cities through

prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the Lord shall yet

comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.”

ZECHARIAH 7:4-14

“Then came the word of the Lord of hosts unto me, saying,

5 Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying,

When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even

those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

6 And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for

yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

7 Should ye not hear the words which the Lord hath cried by the

former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity,

and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the

south and the plain?

8 And the word of the Lord came unto Zechariah, saying,

Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment,

and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor

the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in

your heart.

11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and

stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they

should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts hath

sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great

wrath from the Lord of hosts.

13 Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would

not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the Lord of

hosts:

14 But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations

whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that

no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant

land desolate.”

ZECHARIAH 8:1-9

9 Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment,

and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger,

nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother

in your heart.

Thus the land was desolate after them,

that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the

pleasant land desolate.”

Warnings To (And About) False

Prophets.

DEUTERONOMY 13:1-5

“If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and

giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto

thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not

known, and let us serve them;

3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that

dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know

whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all

your soul.

4 Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his

commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and

cleave unto him.

5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to

death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the Lord

your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and

redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of

the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk in. So

shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.”

DEUTERONOMY 18:20-21

“But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name,

which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in

the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word

which the Lord hath not spoken?”

JEREMIAH 2:8

“The priests said not, Where is the Lord? And they that handle the

law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and

the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do

not profit.”

JEREMIAH 5:12-14

“They have belied the Lord, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil

come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:

13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in

them: thus shall it be done unto them.

14 Wherefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Because ye speak

this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this

people wood, and it shall devour them.”

JEREMIAH 5:30-31

“A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their

means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the

end thereof?”

JEREMIAH 12:13-17

“Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the

Lord God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they

shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle

shall be filled with wine?

13 Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I

will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon

David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the

inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and

the sons together, saith the Lord: I will not pity, nor spare, nor

have mercy, but destroy them.

15 Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the Lord hath spoken.

16 Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and

your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for

light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross

darkness.

17 But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for

your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears,

because the Lord's flock is carried away captive.”

JEREMIAH 14:13-16

“Then said I, Ah, Lord God! Behold, the prophets say unto them,

Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will

give you assured peace in this place.

14 Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my

name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither

spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and

divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

15 Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that

prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword

and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall

those prophets be consumed.

16 And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the

streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and

they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their

sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon

them.”

JEREMIAH 23:9-40

“Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my

bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine

hath overcome, because of the Lord, and because of the words

of his holiness.

10 For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the

land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up,

and their course is evil, and their force is not right.

11 For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have

I found their wickedness, saith the Lord.

12 Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the

darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring

evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the Lord.

13 And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied

in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing:

they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the

hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; they

are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as

Gomorrah.

15 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets;

Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the

water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness

gone forth into all the land.

16 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the

prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak

a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord.

17 They say still unto them that despise me, The Lord hath said,

Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh

after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon

you.

18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord, and hath

perceived and heard his word? Who hath marked his word, and

heard it?

19 Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a

grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the

wicked.

20 The anger of the Lord shall not return, until he have executed,

and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter

days ye shall consider it perfectly.

21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken

to them, yet they prophesied.

22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people

to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their

evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

23 Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off?

24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him?

Saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? Saith the Lord.

25 I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my

name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that

prophesy lies? Yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own

heart;

27 Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their

dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers

have forgotten my name for Baal.

28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he

that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the

chaff to the wheat? Saith the Lord.

29 Is not my word like as a fire? Saith the Lord; and like a hammer

that breaketh the rock in pieces?

30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord,

that steal my words everyone from his neighbour.

31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord, that use

their tongues, and say, He saith.

32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith

the Lord, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their

lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded

them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the

Lord.

33 And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee,

saying, What is the burden of the Lord? Thou shalt then say unto

them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the Lord.

34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that

shall say, The burden of the Lord, I will even punish that man and

his house.

35 Thus shall ye say everyone to his neighbour, and every one to

his brother, What hath the Lord answered? And, What hath the

Lord spoken?

36 And the burden of the Lord shall ye mention no more: for every

man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of

the living God, of the Lord of hosts our God.

37 Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the Lord

answered thee? And, What hath the Lord spoken?

38 But since ye say, The burden of the Lord; therefore thus saith

the Lord; Because ye say this word, The burden of the Lord, and

I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the

Lord;

39 Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will

forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and

cast you out of my presence:

40 And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a

perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.”

JEREMIAH 29:8-9

“For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your

prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you,

neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent

them, saith the Lord.”

JEREMIAH 32:30-44

“For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only

done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel

have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands,

saith the Lord.

31 For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger

and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day;

that I should remove it from before my face,

32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the

children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger,

they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets,

and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face:

though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet

they have not hearkened to receive instruction.

34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called

by my name, to defile it.

35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley

of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to

pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not,

neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination,

to cause Judah to sin.

36 And now therefore thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel,

concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into

the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine,

and by the pestilence;

37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have

driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath;

and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them

to dwell safely:

38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may

fear me forever, for the good of them, and of their children after

them:

40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will

not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear

in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant

them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole

soul.

42 For thus saith the Lord; Like as I have brought all this great

evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I

have promised them.

43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is

desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the

Chaldeans.

44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and

seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the

places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the

cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the

cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith

the Lord.”

LAMENTATIONS 2:8-15

“The Lord hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of

Zion: he hath stretched out a line, he hath not withdrawn his

hand from destroying: therefore he made the rampart and the

wall to lament; they languished together.

Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and

broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles:

the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the Lord.

10 The elders of the daughter of Zion sit upon the ground, and

keep silence: they have cast up dust upon their heads; they have

girded themselves with sackcloth: the virgins of Jerusalem hang

down their heads to the ground.

11 Mine eyes do fail with tears, my bowels are troubled, my liver is

poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my

people; because the children and the sucklings swoon in the streets

of the city.

12 They say to their mothers, Where is corn and wine? When they

swooned as the wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul

was poured out into their mothers' bosom.

13 What thing shall I take to witness for thee? What thing shall I

liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I equal to thee,

that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? For thy breach

is great like the sea: who can heal thee?

14 Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and

they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity;

but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment.

15 All that pass by clap their hands at thee; they hiss and wag their

head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men

call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?”

LAMENTATIONS 4:11-14

“The Lord hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his

fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath

devoured the foundations thereof.

12 The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world,

would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy

should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.

13 For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests,

that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,

14 They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they have

polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch

their garments.”

EZEKIEL 13:1-23

“And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that

prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their

own hearts, Hear ye the word of the Lord;

Thus saith the Lord God; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that

follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

4 O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.

5 Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge

for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the

Lord.

6 They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The Lord

saith: and the Lord hath not sent them: and they have made

others to hope that they would confirm the word.

7 Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying

divination, whereas ye say, The Lord saith it; albeit I have not

spoken?

8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye have spoken

vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith

the Lord God.

9 And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and

that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people,

neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel,

neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know

that I am the Lord God.

10 Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying,

Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo,

others daubed it with untempered morter:

11 Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it

shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great

hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.

12 Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where

is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it?

13 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; I will even rend it with a

stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower

in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it.

14 So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with

untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the

foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye

shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that

I am the Lord.

15 Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them

that have daubed it with untempered morter, and will say unto you,

The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it;

16 To wit, the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning

Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and there is no

peace, saith the Lord God.

17 Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters

of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy

thou against them,

18 And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Woe to the women that sew

pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every

stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will

ye save the souls alive that come unto you?

19 And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley

and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and

to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my

people that hear your lies?

20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your

pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and

I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the

souls that ye hunt to make them fly.

21 Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your

hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye

shall know that I am the Lord.

22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad,

whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the

wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising

him life:

23 Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for

I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I

am the Lord.”

EZEKIEL 22:23-31

And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

24 Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not

cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.

25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like

a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they

have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her

many widows in the midst thereof.

26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy

things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane,

neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the

clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am

profaned among them.

27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the

prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

28 And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter,

seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the

Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken.

29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised

robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have

oppressed the stranger wrongfully.

30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the

hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should

not destroy it: but I found none.

31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I

have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way

have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.”

MICAH 3:5-12

“Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people

err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth

not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.

6 Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision;

and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun

shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over

them.

7 Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded:

yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God.

8 But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord, and of

judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression,

and to Israel his sin.

9 Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and

princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert

all equity.

10 They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.

11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof

teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will

they lean upon the Lord, and say, Is not the Lord among us? None

evil can come upon us.

12 Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and

Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as

the high places of the forest.”

ZEPHANIAH 3:1-20

“Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!

2 She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she

trusted not in the Lord; she drew not near to her God.

3 Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening

wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.

4 Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have

polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.

5 The just Lord is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every

morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the

unjust knoweth no shame.

6 I have cut off the nations: their towers are desolate; I made their

streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so

that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.

7 I said, Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive instruction; so

their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I punished them:

but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.

Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I

rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations,

that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine

indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be

devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may

all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent.

10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the

daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.

11 In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein

thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of

the midst of thee them that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt no

more be haughty because of my holy mountain.

12 I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people,

and they shall trust in the name of the Lord.

13 The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither

shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed

and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

14 Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice

with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

15 The Lord hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine

enemy: the king of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee:

thou shalt not see evil any more.

16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to

Zion, Let not thine hands be slack.

17 The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save,

he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy

over thee with singing.

18 I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly,

who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.

19 Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will

save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I

will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been

put to shame.

20 At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather

you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the

earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the

Lord.”

ZECHARIAH 13:1-5

“In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David

and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

2 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that

I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no

more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the

unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

3 And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy,

then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him,

Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the Lord:

and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him

through when he prophesieth.

4 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be

ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath prophesied; neither

shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:

5 But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man

taught me to keep cattle from my youth.”
